Re: Media/Event Kit – National Day of Protest
(January 22, 2007)
The attached pages may be helpful to locals who wish to participate in our National Day of Protest to save forest-related jobs in local communities. These materials and suggestions are consistent with national materials which have been developed related to this issue and are designed to help locals who want to do a bit more.
This kit contains:
- A basic news release from the CEP National Office which you can modify locally by inserting your name, local and community, and some comments consistent with national materials;
- A page of do’s and don’ts regarding publicity events;
- A page of tips on how to deal with the media and how to make your story interesting;
- Some proclamations which you may find useful in your local community. There is one for use by the union, which can be a petition; there’s another that can be signed by your city council; and the third is more generic, and can be signed by any community organization from a Chamber of Commerce to community groups.
I hope this additional material is helpful to you, and please send us reports on any local activities so we can pass it on to other locals and our National Executive Board.
