FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 26, 2006
The 67 unionized employees of CTV Winnipeg (CKY) have ratified a new three-year deal that increases wages 7.75 per cent and addresses equity issues in the workplace.
Local 816M members ratified the contract, which is retroactive to June 9 and expires June 9, 2009, in a series of votes late last week. The contract gives the media workers 2.75 per cent this year and 2.5 per cent in each of the next two years. The deal also addressed an overtime issue that allows members to take more of their overtime hours as banked time.
The new Collective Agreement also includes a new Letter of Intent on Employment Equity. The Company and Union support employment equity and recognize the special efforts necessary to improve opportunities for women, aboriginal peoples, members of visible minorities and persons with disabilities.
CEP is the largest media union in Canada, representing more than 20,000 media workers in newspapers, radio, TV and new media. CEP represents 150,000 working people coast to coast in energy, paper, telecommunications, commercial print, graphics and media.
